Kristi's Bag Makers for August-Bugsy Backpack

It’s August and that means school is right around the corner – perfect back pack
season! And, perfect for those end of the summer trips.

Join Kristi and your fellow bag makers for an evening of sewing a fun tote bag.

Homework will be required in that you should have you bag cut out and interfacing
applied prior to the class. Kristi uses SF 101 interfacing on essentially every bag
piece, including the lining. This is usually IN ADDITION to fusible fleece or soft and
stable.

Kristi will provide an overview of the pattern and her tips and tricks for making the
bag. We will then spend the rest of the evening sewing. Feel free to prepare pieces
you feel comfortable preparing (handles, pockets, etc.). Each month the focus will
be on a new technique.

This month, we will be creating the Bugsy Backpack pattern by Sassafras Lane
Designs. This is a fun backpack that converts from a smaller sized backpack to a
larger bag/tote. This month we will focus on installing hardware and making
backpack straps.

Quilter’s Haven will have the Bugsy Backpack Pattern and the Hardware Kit – please
purchase when you register and pay for the class. You will need the materials listed
on the pattern (remember if you are using directional fabric, allow a little extra).
Prior to class, you should trace your pattern pieces, cut them out and fuse SF101 to
each of your pieces. Don’t fuse if you are using cork or leather.

So – Come Join Kristi and have fun with your fellow Bag Makers doing what we love
to do – MAKE BAGS!!!
