Quilter's Haven in Rosemount, Minnesota offers quilting classes for all skill levels. Learn to quilt, improve your quilting techniques or learn new quilting techniques.

Class sign-up:   To register for classes, call the shop at 651-322-7071 or stop by Quilter's Haven.  Class supply lists are available at the shop.   To assure a spot is reserved for you, all classes require payment at time of registration.

Class Refund Policy: Four day advance notice is required for a class refund. Refunds will be given via store credit or may be applied to another class. All refunds must be taken within 60 days of class cancellation or be forfeited.

Classes

2012 Mystery Quilt

This class meets once a month for ten months, then ends with a big show and tell party. You will be given one set of instructions (a clue), each month. With a little sewing each month, you will have a new quilt top finished by December. Choice of five sizes; wall, throw, twin, queen or king. Choose from one of five class times. This mystery may be done by mail, if you prefer. Intermediate level. Beginner Cut and Piece

Learn or improve the basic skills of rotary cutting and machine piecing. Several projects to choose from, including placemats. You will make the quilt top only in this class. You may want to enroll in the quilting and finishing classes as well. We will help you shop for fabric at the first class. Beginner level. Four 2 ½ hour classes. Beyond Beginner

Learn several new cutting and piecing skills while you improve basic techniques. You will choose blocks you like and put them together in a wall hanging or throw size quilt. Must have taken a beginner class or have permission from instructor. Four 2 ½ hour classes. Fee: $50, supplies extra. Binding Your Quilt

Most quilts are finished with a double thickness binding. We will learn to make binding and practice putting it on a small quilt sample. Tips will be shared for perfect corners. Other techniques for finished edges will be demonstrated. Ideas for labeling your quilt will be discussed. Beginner to Intermediate level. One 2 ½ hour class. Garden Club

STARTING FEBRUARY 2012 Machine Embroidery and Applique Block of the Month Have you ever wanted to do one of those beautiful machine applique and embroidery quilts and scared to get started. Well fear no more, starting the first Sunday in January 2012 we will do the Garden Club as a BOM. We will break down the quilt to do a section each month. The best part is we will do it all together in the classroom so help will be available for whatever your needs. You will need to purchase The Garden Club CD. $15 per session. Kits will be available for purchase to make one like the shop sample. Instructor: Rosie

Hand Quilting

Learn this age old, relaxing skill. Practice on a provided small sample. In this class you will learn about the best batting for hand quilting, how to mark designs and what to safely use on your quilt. And learn to spray or pin baste quilts ready for hand or machine quilting. Beginner level. One 2 ½ hour class. Class Dates: Thursday, March 1 6:00-8:30 Instructor: Gwen Lundgren Fee: $20

Machine Applique

There are many new patterns in the market today which feature the art of applique. Machine applique is a wonderful technique to learn and to use in the quilts that you make. This class will teach two methods of machine applique -- both raw edge and turned edge. Whether you are new to applique or want to perfect your skills - this class is for you! Medallion Play

Beginning with a large block of your choice, you will add borders each month, following rules given in class. During class we will look at each person’s project and offer suggestions for the next border. This is similar to a round robin, but you will work only on your own quilt. Every quilt is unique. This class meets once a month for six months and is lots of fun. Intermediate level. Saturday Quilter's Night Out

Bring a project of your choice and a snack to share. Sew, chat and snack until 10:00. This is uninterrupted quilting time and a chance to make new friends. No formal teaching, but lots of help if you need it. Intermediate level. Please call to register for these evenings. Sew Sew Bag Class

Tuesday February 28, 2012 6:00 - 8:00 Cost: $15.00 This class will feature bags from the "Sew Serendipity" Bag Book. You will need to purchase this book for the first class and we will have classes focusing on at least 6 of the bags from that book thoughout the year. Each class will become progressively more challenging. It is always good to start with or review the fundamentals. There will be some basic prep work prior to this class -- we want to make the best use of our 2 hours and will want to try and leave with our bags finished. The first class will feature the basic bag construction and we will talk about general concepts in making bags. We will make the "Foldable Shopper" on page 43. You may choose either the Medium or the Large size bag. Click on the class link for prep work and supply list.

Quilter's Haven is located in Rosemount, Minnesota, about 1/2 mile north of County Road 42 (150th St.) on Highway 3 (South Robert Trail). County Road 42 (150th St.) traveling west is accessible from 52 and 55, and Hwy 35W or 77 (Cedar Ave) to the East.
