Quilter's Haven in Rosemount, Minnesota offers
quilting classes for all skill levels. Learn to quilt, improve
your quilting techniques or learn new quilting techniques.

by Quilter's Haven. Class supply lists are available
at the shop. To assure a spot is reserved for
you, all classes require payment at time of registration.

Class Refund Policy: Four day advance notice
is required for a class refund. Refunds will be given via store credit
or may be applied to another class. All refunds must be taken within
60 days of class cancellation or be forfeited.

of classes designed for the beginner quilter or those who want to
improve basic quilting skills. Cut and Piece; followed by Machine

2010 Mystery Quilt
This class meets once a month for ten months, then ends with
a big show and tell party. You will be given one set of instructions
(a clue), each month. With a little sewing each month, you will
have a new quilt top finished by December. Choice of five sizes;
wall, throw, twin, queen or king. Choose from one of five class
times. This mystery may be done by mail, if you prefer. Intermediate
level.

12 Karat Four Patch
Learn or improve the art of making pieced miniature quilts. This
class will focus on making the design featuring diamond shaped
four patch blocks. The finished quilt is 18" by 22 1/2
inches. Stop by Quilter's Haven and see the sample. The
Book "Bits and Pieces - 18 Little Quilts from Scraps and Fat
Quarters" is required.

Beginner Cut and Piece
Learn or improve the basic skills of rotary cutting and machine
piecing. Several projects to choose from, including placemats.
You will make the quilt top only in this class. You may want
to enroll in the quilting and finishing classes as well. We
will help you shop for fabric at the first class. Beginner
level. Four 2 ½ hour classes.

Beyond Beginner
Learn several new cutting and piecing skills while you improve
basic techniques. You will choose blocks you like and put them
together in a wall hanging or throw size quilt. Must have
taken a beginner class or have permission from instructor. Four
2 ½ hour classes.

Binding Your Quilt
Most quilts are finished with a double thickness binding. We
will learn to make binding and practice putting it on a small
quilt sample. Tips will be shared for perfect corners. Other
techniques for finished edges will be demonstrated. Ideas for
labeling your quilt will be discussed. Beginner to Intermediate
level. One 2 ½ hour class.

Borderland Sampler
Quilt
Can’t get enough women’s history; still have reproduction
fabrics you’d like to see in a historical reproduction
quilt? Then the Borderland Sampler may be just what you have
been waiting for.
This 11-month class will explore the Civil War era conflict
along the Kansa/Missouri border and the role of women as they
struggled to survive the hardships of this controversy. The
blocks in this quilt, designed by quilt historian Barbara Brackman,
are a tribute to the unique lives of these valiant women: runaway
slaves, widows, abolitionists, rebels, refugees, children, and
even female soldiers.
At each class you will learn the history behind each block,
discuss quick-piecing tips, and receive a ‘bonus’ block
for a second quilt.

Electric Quilt Software
Are you interested in seeing how quilt software works? Do
you own Electric Quilt 5 or 6 but you are not comfortable using
it? If you own it, bring your laptop (if possible) and
you will learn by seeing demos and doing exercises together. This
is a two-week class. Beginner level. Two 2 ½ hour
classes.

Fabulous Flowers
With just simple folding and stitching you will quickly make
gorgeous dimensional flowers. Add a bit of quilting and
some embellishments to finish a darling little quilt. Learn
to make several kinds of flowers and leaves to make quick gifts. Advanced

Feathers, Fillers, and Fun
This class is for those who have mastered meandering and are
interested in learning some new techniques to expand their longarming
skills.
We will start with drawing, work with the Skillbuilders book
and preprinted sample panels, available in the store, and then
go to the machine to put it all together.
Please come with questions about machine quilting and/or how
to quilt a quilt that you already have and don't know where
to start. It is always great to share experiences and
ideas. The class will be limited to 2 people per session. Currently,
we have one session scheduled, but will add more as the interest
in the class presents itself.

FELTED VEST
A joint class of the Yarn Garage and Quilter's Haven. Come
and discover your inner creativity when you sew this simple
vest and then embellish to your creative heart's delight. The
embellishment techniques will focus on knitting and wool felting. This
class will be offered in 3 sessions. Jean Graham will
teach the first session which will involve pattern fitting
and garment construction. The second session will focus
on knitting and creating the knitted embellishments. The
third session Ann Poulson will show you how to embellish the
front and/or back of your vest with wool felting techniques.

Fun with Fabric Paint
Do you love the look of designer painted clothing and art quilts,
but don't think you can paint? If you can color... you can PAINT!
Come explore the numerous effects you can achieve with fabric
paint and inks.
Techniques include: stenciling, masking, stamping, sponging,
washes, color mixing, dry brushing, overlays, mediums and gels.
WARNING! This class is extremely fun, and you may get addicted
to fabric painting. Please wear old clothes or bring an apron.

Hand Quilting
Learn this age old, relaxing skill. Practice on a provided
small sample. In this class you will learn about the best batting
for hand quilting, how to mark designs and what to safely use
on your quilt. And learn to spray or pin baste quilts ready
for hand or machine quilting. Beginner level. One 2 ½ hour

Learn to Rent
This class is designed for those who would like to be able
to rent the longarm at Quilters Haven. The basics of the parts
of the machine, maintenance, and how to operate it will be taught.
The class will be limited to 3 people per session with an individual
follow up hands on class to actually load and quilt a muslin
piece, including meandering and a pass of a pantograph.
Upon completion, you will be able to schedule time on the machine,
paying by the hour, and finish your own quilts.

Machine Applique
There are many new patterns in the market today which feature
the art of applique. Machine applique is a wonderful
technique to learn and to use in the quilts that you make. This
class will teach two methods of machine applique -- both
raw edge and turned edge. Whether you are new to
applique or want to perfect your skills - this class is
for you!

Machine Quilting
You have worked hard to finish the quilt top -- now what!! This
class is exactly what you need. This class will focus
on machine quilting your quilt tops. Preparing the
quilt sandwich and various machine quilting techniques will
be demonstrated and explained. This is a hands-on
class --- so you will have a chance to practice what you
are learning in the class. Whether you are a beginning
quilter or want to improve your quilting skills join this
class for what is certain to be an educational and fun day
of machine quilting.

Medallion Play
Beginning with a large block of your choice, you will add
borders each month, following rules given in class. During class
we will look at each person’s project and offer suggestions
for the next border. This is similar to a round robin, but
you will work only on your own quilt. Every quilt is unique.
This class meets once a month for six months and is lots of
fun. Intermediate level.

Mitten Class
Doubled lined minky mittens in sizes infant to extra-large
adult. Mittens may also be done in other fabrics, however
please call the shop for details. The mittens are long, but
can be cuffed if a shorter mitt is preferable.

"My Label" Bernina Software Class
In this class you will have a chance for hands-on use of the
New Bernina "My Label" pattern making software and
you will make a gored skirt that will fit you perfectly. Come
and discover how much fun sewing garments can be and how easy
this fascinating software makes it. This is a beginner
level class and you will learn basic garment making as well
as pattern layout and fabric selection.

Paper Piece a Mini
Learn this fun technique that is often used for piecing difficult
blocks or those with tiny pieces. Sewing on the line through
paper makes us all look like experts. We will make a very
small quilt, while practicing this useful skill. Advanced

Piece Keeper
The Piece Keeper is a great place to store appliqué or
pieced blocks for your current projects. This fold up caddy
is lined with flannel and will keep your finished blocks neat
or keep loose pieces organized for sewing. Prop it up beside
your machine for a small design surface. It is easy sewing
and quick to assemble for any sewing level experience. One 2 ½ hour
class.

Professional
Tote Bag
This wonderful tote has pockets and compartments for just about
everything. It fits a laptop and plenty of files (or patterns).
Pockets and zippers are featured in this bag and you will be
amazed at
how easily they are done. There is no quilting involved but
rather a
stiff interfacing is used to give the bag shape. The goal of
the class
will be to have you leave with your completed bag at the end
of the
second class. Some basic sewing skills are required. Cutting
and
fusing of interfacing required BEFORE the start of the first
class.

Saturday Quilters Night Out
Bring a project of your choice and a snack to share. Sew,
chat and snack until 10:00. This is uninterrupted quilting

Sewing Machine 101

T-Shirt Basics
T-Shirts are part of the American way of life. This
class will focus on the basics of constructing a T-shirt. Beginning
sewers welcome. This class will focus on working with
knits, using the serger, and techniques for using a twin needle. You
won't want to make just one! Check out the wonderful
supply of knits perfect for this project at Quilter's Haven.

The Miss Benson Bag by Purse Strings
This is a nice size bag that is easily constructed with a quilt-as-you-go technique.
Come to class with your fabrics and fleece cut and ready to
sew. You can make the bag with our without a zipper
closure. We will also talk about different types of
pockets for the lining. A walking foot is helpful, but
not necessary.

Whimsical Lace Wrap
This month you will be create a scarf by making your own fabric.
You will sprinkle yarns, ribbons, bits of fabric, embroidery
floss, threads, and anything else you can sew through to
create your own one of a kind scarf. Then using your machine
you will sew everything in place. Bring your machine and
join the fun.
