your quilting techniques or learn new quilting techniques.
New!! Gwen Lundgren and Tracy Trevethan will be teaching a
series of classes designed for the beginner quilter or those
who want to improve basic quilting skills. Cut and Piece; followed
by Machine Quilting, Hand Quilting and Finishing Your Quilt.

Bernina Embroidery Guide Classes
Learn all the features and functionality of your Bernina embroidery
module.

Bernina Sewing Machine Classes
Learn all the basics of machine operation as well as
needle and thread selection, cleaning and maintenance, presser
feet and accessories and more! Supplies include; sewing machine,
accessories, machine manual and notebook for notes. This class
is for all activa and aurora models.

Beginner Cut and Piece
Learn or improve the basic skills of rotary cutting
and machine piecing. Several projects to choose from, including
placemats. You will make the quilt top only in this class.
You may want to enroll in the quilting and finishing classes
as well. We will help you shop for fabric at the first class. Beginner
level. Four 2 hour classes.

Beyond Beginner
Learn several new cutting, piecing and appliqué skills
while you improve basic techniques. You will choose blocks you
like and put them together in a wall hanging or throw size quilt. Must
have taken a beginner class or have permission from instructor.
We will choose fabric during first class. Three 2-½ hour
classes. Fee: $50, supplies and book, Around the Block or Once
More Around the Block, both by Judy Hopkins extra.

Finishing Your Quilt
Most quilts are finished with a double thickness binding. We
will learn to make binding and practice putting it on a small
quilt sample. Tips will be shared for perfect mitered corners.
Other techniques for finished edges will be demonstrated. Ideas
for labeling your quilt will be discussed. Beginner to Intermediate
level. One 2 ½ hour class.

Hand Embroidery
This class will focus on embroidery stitches and supplies
used to complete a project. We’ll discuss the following:
- Preparing your Stitchery Fabric
- Tracing the design
- Needles and threads
- Stitches such as the stem, satin, lazy
daisy, blanket, fly, and back
stitch.
- Also,
French knots
We’ll practice in class so you will be ready
for your special project (supply list available at the shop).

Hand Quilting
Learn this age old, relaxing skill. Practice on a
provided small sample. In this class you will learn about
the best batting for hand quilting, how to mark designs and
what to safely use on your quilt. And learn to spray or pin
baste quilts ready for hand or machine quilting. Beginner
level. One 2 ½ hour class.

Machine Applique
Do you love the look of appliqué, but don’t want
to invest the time it takes to do the hand work? Come
and learn two methods of appliqué preparation and how
to stitch your appliqué by machine.

Machine Quilting
This quilting
class is for everyone. If you
have just started quilting and taken at least one class
on basic quilt construction or have already made at least
one quilt top. In this class you will learn all the
basics of machine quilting as well as information on needles,
thread and batting as they relate to quilting. We
will cover straight line and in the ditch quilting and free
motion techniques. Marking your quilt top and the
use of stencils will also be practiced. After this
class you will be ready to tackle any quilting project,
big or small.

Medallion Play
Beginning with a large block of your choice, you will
add borders each month, following rules given in class. During
class we will look at each person’s project and offer
suggestions for the next border. This is similar to a round
robin, but you will work only on your own quilt. Every quilt
is unique. This class meets once a month for six months and
is lots of fun. Intermediate level.

Mystery
Quilt 2008
This class meets once a month for ten months, then
ends with a big show and tell party. You will be given one
set of instructions (a clue), each month. With a little sewing
each month, you will have a new quilt top finished by December.
Choice of five sizes; wall, throw, twin, queen or king. This
mystery may be done by mail, if you prefer. Intermediate
level.

Needle Felting Class
Needle felting is a simple and inspiring technique
used to add color and drama to your wool projects. Felting
is accomplished by using a barbed felting needle to push wool
roving into the wool background. As a beginner you will
enjoy making flowers, leaves and circles.
This will be a hands-on class. You will learn
how to make your pattern, twist to mark your pattern and layer
multiple colors for an interesting affect and shape wool roving
into various shapes. This is a fun, portable technique.

Paint by Numbers Bargello Quilt
Create a dramatic quilt that will come to life before your
eyes and watch the waves and curves develop as you assemble
the quilt. This quilt is made with a strip piece method
with a range of colors from one to twenty-eight including light,
medium and dark fabrics that will make the waves flow. The
shop sample is made with 30 different blue fabrics.

Pajama Party
Learn the basics of garment sewing by making pajama pants. This
will be a fun class; wear your slippers and be comfortable. We

Saturday Quilters Night Out
Bring a project of your choice and a snack to share. Sew,
chat and snack until 10:00. This is uninterrupted quilting
time and a chance to make new friends. No formal teaching,
but lots of help if you need it. Intermediate level. Please

Tri-Tastic Tropical
Create this fabulous wallhanging or quilt and learn Tracy's
new "Tri-Angle-Tastic" method. This method creates
quick and easy half rectangle triangles without having to
cut or sew with triangles. No additional tools needed either.
Plus lots and lots of fun!

Wool Rug Needle Punch
Explore a new (old) technique of needle punch rug making. Similar
to needle punch embroidery, we will use an Oxford punch to push
wool strips through a foundation fabric to create a design. This
is fun and easy, but best of all it goes fast! In class
we will talk about fabrics vs. yarn, backing fabrics, tools
of the trade and finishing techniques. The class kit will
include design, backing and wool to complete a trivet which
can be hung on a wall or used on a table top. You will
need an Oxford punch and a 14” hoop, plus kit.
