Quilts Of Valor
Minnesota
Quilting Honor & Comfort
For Our Wounded
Participate at Quilter’s
Haven
|
Join our QOV group every second Thursday of the month from
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Block Kits Available for $2, or
request a free pattern
Pillowcase Kits Available for $8
All proceeds used for QOV expenses.
Wounded Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airman want to know
two things: How their buddy is doing and does the average American
care about their contributions in keeping terrorism away from
our shores. The answer to the first is given by the military.
The answer to the second can only be given by the average American.
And, one way you can do this, is to help make a Quilt of Valor.
Over 3,500 of our men and women have died as a result of the
war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The official number of wounded
is over 60,000.
Join the thousands who have shown support and given tangible
comfort to our physically, psychologically and spiritually wounded
service members. Help make a Quilt of Valor. They DO make
a difference in their lives!
There are four ways to get involved making a QOV and a one
of them doesn't even involve sewing!
1) Make a finished QOV quilt and bring it
to your local quilt shop. QOV's should be a minimum size of
50" x 60" and quilted, either by hand or machine.
It should include a label, washing instructions; pillowcase
and a message to the soldier would also be nice. For more detailed
info visit www.qovf.org.
2) Make a quilt-top with a backing. Don't
worry about quilting it because we have longarmers who volunteer
to do that part. Contact Page Johnson at pagej@frontiernet.net .
3) Machine or hand quilt a QOV top. Contact
Page 651-423-5727 if you’re willing to help
4) Donate funds to the QOV non-profit foundation
to offset the costs of making and shipping the QOVs to military
hospitals. Or, donate fabrics to our local QOV group making
quilts. Contact Vivian Smithburg 651-322-4563.
The most frequent remark from a QOV is: "We
Didn't Know Anyone Cared."
