Art Quilting - Scrappy Applique
Scrappy Applique is a hybrid between Fabric Collage and Fabric Mosaics with some wonderful advantages: It is easy to quilt through the layers, even with fancy machine stitches or hand stitches, you can free motion couch yarns and even embellish with beads! Wow, it makes me BUZZ with happy thoughts and ideas! Here’s the techniques you will learn: scrappy applique, free motion couching, fancy stitches by machine, fancy hand stitches, and a dimensional beading technique that is BEE-utiful! Come join the fun!
Bring to Class:
- Sharp scissors
- Pencil / ultra-fine sharpie
- Pattern ease ½ yard
- Misty Fuse (no substitutions)
- Light blue background fabric ½ yard
- Gold, yellow, and golden brown fabric scrapes (hive and bees)
- Browns scraps all value (branch)
- Pinks and oranges scrapes all values (flowers)
- Greens all values scrapes (leaves)
- Black scrapes (letters and bee)
- White scrap (wings)
Finishing kit available $5 (yarn, beads, sequins, snaps for eyes, embroidery floss). Email Shelli (shelliquilt@charter.net) if you want one. No machine needed. Shelli will demo free motion couching in class.
