Beginning Quilt Making

Beginning Quilt Making

Sundays - 5 sessions
September 25, October 2, 9, 16, & 23
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Fee: $125 plus Book

In this class we will make a machine pieced quilt top using 6-9 different blocks. We will discuss fabric selection, sewing supplies, rotary cutting techniques and traditional and contemporary piecin using the book “Teach Me to Make My First Quilt” by Pat Sloan, available at Quilter's Haven. This book is a great reference book for basic techniques and has many quilt blocks to choose from.

Our emphasis will be measuring, using the rotary cutter and ruler for precision cutting, achieving an accurate 1/4" seam, and many tips and tricks for piecing blocks.
The last class session will cover sashing, borders, quilt layering and quilting guidance as well as basic binding instructions.
